Skills required: cast on, knitting, purling, decreasing, knitting in the round, working twisted stitches (optional, link to video tutorial provided), working I-cord and attached I-cord (explanations provided), yarn over.

Construction: This bonnet is knit seamlessly and features an easy textured stitch. The front of the bonnet is knit flat; the crown is knit in the round. An attached I-cord and I-cord ties are worked on the neck portion.

This lovely bonnet is designed to be gender-neutral and practical, and the worsted weight yarn it calls for makes it a very quick knit. 
Perfect for those last minute baby shower gifts or for a quick project when you are in the mood for instant gratification :)

This design really makes beautiful yarn sing. Use solids for an elegant, understated look, or use semi-solids or variegated yarns for a more playful effect.

Sizes available:

Newborn (Baby, Toddler) i.e. approximately: 0-3mo (3-12mo, 12-24mo) 
For head circumference up to: 16 (18, 19) inches or 40.5 (45.5, 48) cm.

Yarn Requirements:

Approximately 80 (90, 120) yds or 73 (82, 110) meters of worsted weight yarn.

Needles:

  • US 8 or 5mm straight or circular needles or size needed to match textured stitch gauge.

  • US 6 or 4mm straight or circular needles (i.e. 2 sizes smaller) for ribbing.

  • 1 set of US 8 or 5mm dpns for crown of hat or size needed to match stockinette stitch gauge.

  • Two US 6 or 4mm dpns (i.e. 2 sizes smaller) for I-cord.

Gauge:

  • 22 sts x 36 rows = 4 inches or 10cm in textured stitch, after blocking
